Absolutely.
My blog is a mosaics blog I started after I took my first class. It started off as a way of storing bits of inspiration and technique for future use. As long as the topic relates to mosaics its fair game for a blog post. Now I get 1500 hits daily for what is a rather specialist topic.
Most of my posts are photos of mosaics which I like and flickr is a wonderful source. If you remember to leave a comment at each photo you blog, you also get extra traffic.
But I also take photos of any local mosaics I find so it has become a resource in that respect too. And I will feature mosaic artists that take my fancy [and no one has refused me permission to use a photo off their website yet!] and new products. I have had some people I consider to be gurus in the field visit my blog and leave comments which really makes my day. Not bad for an absolute beginner!
